Confidential placement means offering a work to a few people we believe will want it, one conversation at a time, rather than to everyone at once. The work is not listed on this site or anywhere else, its images go only to the buyers it is shown to, and if it does not find a home there is no public record that it was ever offered.
You agree the asking price with us before anyone sees the work, every offer comes to you, and nothing is accepted without your say. You can withdraw it at any point. It suits owners who value privacy, works that have been seen on the market recently, and anyone who wants certainty over price and timing.
Many of the works collectors want most are never offered publicly. Tell us what you are looking for, by artist, period, medium or budget, and we search among private owners, dealers and estates, including owners who would sell for the right offer but have not put their work on the market.
Before you commit we check condition, provenance, title and the paperwork the market expects, such as a certificate or the artist's authentication body where one exists, and we negotiate the price on your behalf. Payment, insurance, shipping and customs are arranged for you, and your name is not passed to the seller without your consent.

An owner sends photographs and what is known about the work; a collector sends a brief. Either is enough to begin, and neither commits you to anything.

A sale agreed directly between a seller and a buyer, at a price both have accepted, without the work being offered publicly. We act as the intermediary: finding the other side, checking the work and its paperwork, and seeing the transaction through to settlement.

Our fee is agreed in writing before a work is shown or a search begins. On most private sales there is none; where a sale is complex it is between 2.5 and 10 per cent, and you know which before you commit.
It depends on the work and on who wants it. Once a price is agreed, settlement is usually quick, and funds always clear before the work moves.
No. We are in London, by appointment, and act for clients across the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States. Photographs are enough to begin, and a work travels only when a viewing is needed or a sale is agreed.
