Consign
Confidential private sale and auction consignment for paintings, prints, photographs and works on paper, in every category we handle.
Whether you are selling a single work or a whole collection, the valuation is free, confidential and carries no obligation to proceed. We act for you, the seller, from the first photograph to settlement, and the paperwork stays in your name throughout.
A private sale happens out of public view. We offer the work quietly to buyers and collectors we know, the price is agreed before anything changes hands, and if it does not sell, nothing is published and you keep the work. There is no catalogue, no sale date to wait for and no unsold record.
It suits owners for whom discretion matters, works that have been offered before, and anyone who needs certainty over price or timing. Where an auction would do better for the work, we say so, compare the salerooms on your behalf and negotiate the terms. Read how private sales work, or what an auction costs the seller.
We consign across six areas, from a single print to a full collection. Individual artists are in the A to Z.
Old Masters
European paintings and drawings made before about 1800, where attribution, condition and provenance settle the figure.
Impressionist
Paintings, pastels and works on paper from the later nineteenth century and the years either side of it.
Modernist
The first half of the twentieth century: paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture.
Contemporary and Post-War
Work made since 1945, from established names to the editions and multiples that change hands most often.
Photographic art
Vintage and later prints, editioned and unique photographs.
Street art
Signed and unsigned prints, originals and unique works, Banksy among them.
Unique works by Banksy
Most Banksy works that change hands are screenprints. We also handle the unique works: paintings on canvas, works on paper and other one-off pieces made by the artist rather than printed in an edition. They come to market rarely, and they are where discretion matters most.
For any Banksy, and a unique work above all, authentication comes first. Pest Control, the artist’s handling service, issues the certificates buyers require, and without one a work cannot be sold through any reputable route. Banksy authentication explains how the process works.
Consign a work
Tell us what you know about each work and add photographs of it. Up to five works can go in one submission, and the valuation is free.
Three Barbara Hepworth sculptures made almost £12 million at Christie's in October, led by Sculpture with Colour (Eos) at £6.19 million. A show on her love of Greece opens at Pallant House in November, and her lithographs are the most affordable way into her work.
Ten up-and-coming British artists who defined 2026, from the Turner Prize nominees Tanoa Sasraku and Kira Freije to Okiki Akinfe, Ally Fallon, Louise Giovanelli and Shaqúelle Whyte, and where to see their work this winter.
