What a work by Darren Almond is worth
Send photographs and whatever paperwork came with it. The first question is what the work actually is — edition or unique, when, and in what condition — because everything else follows from the answer. A valuation is free, made online from the photographs you send, and it commits you to nothing. We act for sellers across the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.

Bio
Darren Almond was born in Lancashire in 1971 and graduated from Winchester School of Art in 1993. He works across sculpture, film and photography, and time is the thread through all of it. His first solo show in London, in 1995, was a single work, a large ceiling fan installed under the Westway and wired to his studio, and in the same year A Real Time Piece relayed a live video feed of his empty studio, where an industrial flip clock marked each passing minute. He has made cast aluminium nameplates modelled on those of British inter-city trains, and since 1998 he has photographed landscapes by the light of the full moon, with exposures of fifteen minutes or more, in a series called Fullmoon that began with Mont Sainte-Victoire, the mountain Cézanne painted again and again. He was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 2005 with If I Had You, a four-screen video installation about his grandmother, and he lives and works in London.
The Fullmoon photographs, which are editioned, and the cast nameplates are the works most often offered; the films and installations change hands far less often. For a photograph, the edition number, the print size and the condition of the surface matter most, and a certificate or gallery invoice should go with it. Metal works should be checked for scratches and knocks.
