What a work by Friedrich Kunath is worth
Send photographs and whatever paperwork came with it. The first question is what the work actually is — edition or unique, when, and in what condition — because everything else follows from the answer. A valuation is free, made online from the photographs you send, and it commits you to nothing. We act for sellers across the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.

Bio
Friedrich Kunath was born in Karl-Marx-Stadt, now Chemnitz, in East Germany in 1974. His family moved to West Germany and he studied at the Braunschweig University of Art; he lives and works in Los Angeles. He works mainly in oil and airbrushed acrylic, as well as drawing, sculpture, installation, photography, performance and video, and his paintings practise a personal conceptual romanticism, layering German Romantic and American landscape painting with song lyrics, cartoons and other popular culture. He has had solo exhibitions at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles in 2010, the Schinkel Pavillon in Berlin in 2011 and the KINDL Centre for Contemporary Art in Berlin in 2023, among others, and in 2022 he co-wrote the song Everything's Electric with Liam Gallagher, Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin.
Paintings on canvas are the most common, often combining painted landscape with lettering, along with works on paper and some sculpture. A gallery invoice and the date of the work should travel with it, and airbrushed passages should be checked for scuffs, which are hard to retouch invisibly.
