What a work by Hilary Pecis is worth
Send photographs and whatever paperwork came with it. The first question is what the work actually is — edition or unique, when, and in what condition — because everything else follows from the answer. A valuation is free, made online from the photographs you send, and it commits you to nothing. We act for sellers across the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.

Bio
Hilary Pecis was born in Fullerton, California, in 1979 and grew up in Redding, in the north of the state. She took her BFA in 2006 and her MFA in 2009 at the California College of the Arts, made abstract collage at first, and then turned to painting. She lives in Los Angeles. Her paintings, mostly acrylic on canvas, record her own surroundings — a kitchen table with flowers and fruit, a living room stacked with books, a view along a street, a mountain at sunset — flattened into dense patterns of colour in which every book spine, plate and leaf is given equal weight. Her solo exhibitions include Piecemeal Rhythm at Timothy Taylor in London in 2021, Warmly at Rachel Uffner in New York in 2022 and Paths Crossed at David Kordansky in Los Angeles in 2023, and her work is in the National Gallery of Art in Washington and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Her paintings are unique and range from small still lifes to large interiors and landscapes; works on paper and prints are fewer. Her career is a short one, so provenance through her galleries — Timothy Taylor, Rachel Uffner and David Kordansky among them — and the date of the painting are the first things a buyer checks. The flat acrylic surfaces show scuffs readily.
Redding, CCA and Los Angeles
In 2021 Art Production Fund showed her work at Rockefeller Center in New York, and in 2023 the TAG Art Museum in Qingdao gave her Orbiting.
Her work is also in the Columbus Museum of Art, the Palm Springs Art Museum and the Aïshti Foundation in Beirut.
