Joan Cornellà valuation

Joan Cornellà was born in Barcelona in 1981. His six-panel comics, drawn in a flat, cheerful style and almost always without words, lead smiling characters through scenes that turn suddenly violent, grotesque or absurd, and they found an enormous audience online. Alongside the comics he paints, makes sculpture and releases prints, carrying the same deadpan characters across every medium.
Much of what comes to market is prints, editions, sculptures and vinyl figures, with original drawings and paintings the scarcer category. Editions vary by size, colourway and edition number, and signed editions need telling apart from the unsigned merchandise of the same images that circulates widely. For sculptures and figures, the edition information, the original box and any certificate matter, as does whether a piece has sat in sunlight, which fades the flat pastel colours.
