Juno Calypso valuation

Juno Calypso was born in London in 1989 and makes staged self-portraiture in which she is both photographer and subject, working alone in hotel rooms, treatment salons and — for the later work — a subterranean 1970s bunker house in Las Vegas. The recurring persona, Joyce, is a woman performing the rituals of femininity in rooms designed for couples, and the pictures are funny and unnerving in roughly equal measure. What To Do With A Million Years came from the bunker.
What trades is editioned photographic prints, generally in small runs, along with occasional objects and installation elements. Edition size, print size, process and mounting all need establishing, since the same image is frequently issued in more than one format. The prints are contemporary colour work, often face-mounted or specially framed, and mounting is part of the object rather than a housing for it. Gallery documentation is thorough and should stay with the piece.
