What a work by Yu Nishimura is worth

Send photographs and whatever paperwork came with it. The first question is what the work actually is — edition or unique, when, and in what condition — because everything else follows from the answer. A valuation is free, made online from the photographs you send, and it commits you to nothing. We act for sellers across the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.

Bio

Yu Nishimura was born in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, in 1982, and still lives and works there. He graduated from Tama Art University in Tokyo in 2004, where he studied oil painting. His multilayered paintings draw on everyday sources, street photography, anime and the varied landscapes and built surroundings of Japan. His first major institutional show was at the Kiyosu City Haruhi Art Museum in Aichi in 2010, followed by solo exhibitions at Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery in 2015 and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa in 2018. He is represented by David Zwirner, Sadie Coles HQ and Crèvecœur.

His works are mostly oil paintings on canvas, and a gallery invoice and the date of the work are the first things a buyer asks for. Canvases should be checked for scuffs and abrasions.
