What a work by Aya Takano is worth
Send photographs and whatever paperwork came with it. The first question is what the work actually is — edition or unique, when, and in what condition — because everything else follows from the answer. A valuation is free, made online from the photographs you send, and it commits you to nothing. We act for sellers across the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.

Bio
Aya Takano was born in Saitama, Japan, in 1976 and grew up reading her father's books on natural science and science fiction, including the manga of Osamu Tezuka. She graduated from Tama Art University in Tokyo in 2000 and became an assistant to Takashi Murakami, joining his Kaikai Kiki studio and the Superflat movement he founded. Her paintings, drawings and prints show pale, long-limbed girls with flushed cheeks and knees floating through cities, forests and outer space among animals and exotic plants, in a world between the future and fantasy. She also writes science fiction and makes manga. She showed in Murakami's Superflat exhibition in Los Angeles in 2001 and in Little Boy at the Japan Society in New York in 2005, and has exhibited widely with Galerie Perrotin.
Her prints and smaller works on paper come up most often, and paintings less so; works with documentation from Kaikai Kiki or her galleries are what buyers look for.
Tama, Kaikai Kiki and Superflat
In 2005 she designed posters for the New York subway for the Public Art Fund and the Japan Society, and in 2003 she worked with the designer Naoki Takizawa on a collection for Issey Miyake.
Jennifer Higgie's monograph on her work was published in 2010.
