Send photographs and whatever paperwork came with it. Bio
Elladj Lincy Deloumeaux was born in Les Abymes, Guadeloupe, in 1995 and moved to mainland France with his family at eight. He studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, taking his DNSAP in 2023, the year he won the Arthur de Baudry d'Asson Prize from the Friends of the Beaux-Arts de Paris. His subjects come from family memory, his sister, mother and aunt among them, and from the heritage and Afro-Caribbean spiritualities of the Antilles. Early portraits were drawn in black marker in a passport-photo format, touched with white pastel; later works on canvas and on large papers build up lace, draperies and veils with sand and added material, and his 2024 exhibition in Abidjan took the Creole garden as its motif. His first solo exhibition, Un est multiple, opened at Galerie Cécile Fakhoury in Abidjan in 2020; Perrotin showed Souvenirs Entrelacés in Dubai in 2023, and he was included in When We See Us: A Century of Black Figuration. He lives between Grand-Bassam, Côte d'Ivoire, and Paris.
His works are paintings on canvas, sometimes with sand and other material worked into the surface, and drawings in marker, pastel and paint on paper. Built-up surfaces can crack or shed if a canvas is knocked or rolled, and works on paper should be framed under glazing away from strong light. A gallery invoice, from Galerie Cécile Fakhoury or Perrotin for instance, and the date of the work should go with it.
