Erik Parker valuation

Paints psychedelic, cartoon-inflected heads and still lifes in dense, clashing colour.

Erik Parker was born in Stuttgart in 1968 and grew up in San Antonio, Texas. He studied at the University of Texas at Austin, where he was taught by Peter Saul, and took his MFA at SUNY Purchase in 1998 before settling in New York. His paintings riff on portraiture and still life through psychedelia, underground comics and music — twisted, disembodied heads and potted plants in high-voltage colour — and he has shown at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and De Appel in Amsterdam, among others.

Paintings on canvas and works on paper lead, with prints and editions, including collaborative releases, alongside. Motifs recur across series, so title, date and dimensions matched to gallery records identify a painting. The dense, saturated colour shows fading and surface abrasion clearly, and editions should be checked for edition size and signature.

What a work by Erik Parker is worth

Send photographs and whatever paperwork came with it. The first question is what the work actually is — edition or unique, when, and in what condition — because everything else follows from the answer. A valuation is free, made online from the photographs you send, and it commits you to nothing. We act for sellers across the UK.
