What a work by Huma Bhabha is worth
Send photographs and whatever paperwork came with it. The first question is what the work actually is — edition or unique, when, and in what condition — because everything else follows from the answer. A valuation is free, made online from the photographs you send, and it commits you to nothing. We act for sellers across the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.

Bio
Huma Bhabha was born in Karachi in 1962 and moved to the United States in 1981, taking a BFA in printmaking at the Rhode Island School of Design in 1985 and an MFA at Columbia University in 1989. She lived in New York until 2002 and has since lived and worked in Poughkeepsie, in the Hudson Valley. Her sculptures are figures that look excavated, damaged or half-made, assembled from found materials such as styrofoam, cork, rubber, wire, paper and clay, and many are later cast in bronze. She calls them characters, and they draw at once on ancient, African and modernist sculpture, from Picasso and Giacometti on, and on the dystopias of science fiction. She works as prolifically on paper, in pastel drawings, collages over photographs and print editions.
Unique sculptures in found materials are fragile and should be checked for losses and repairs, and for a bronze the cast number, if there is one, and the foundry should be confirmed. Drawings and collages on paper are sensitive to light. A gallery invoice and the date of the work place it within her output.
