What a work by Serge Attukwei Clottey is worth
Send photographs and whatever paperwork came with it. The first question is what the work actually is — edition or unique, when, and in what condition — because everything else follows from the answer. A valuation is free, made online from the photographs you send, and it commits you to nothing. We act for sellers across the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.

Bio
Serge Attukwei Clottey was born in Accra in 1985 and studied at the Ghanatta College of Art and Design in Accra and at the Guignard University of Art in Minas Gerais, Brazil. He works across installation, performance, photography, painting and sculpture from his base at Labadi in Accra. His best-known works are tapestries of cut and stitched pieces of the yellow plastic jerrycans used across Ghana to carry water and fuel, a concept he calls Afrogallonism, which turns a symbol of scarcity and consumption into large, shimmering hangings; he also paints portraits. He founded GoLokal, a performance collective that stages work in public spaces in Accra. He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Brighton in 2019 and made an installation for Desert X in California in 2021.
His gallon tapestries and paintings have appeared at auction since about 2021; provenance through his galleries and the condition of the materials matter.
Labadi, Afrogallonism and Desert X
His installation Gold Falls was shown at Desert X AlUla in Saudi Arabia in 2022.
His exhibitions include My Mother's Wardrobe at Gallery 1957 in Accra in 2016 and Distinctive Gestures in London in 2021.
