Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe was born in Accra, Ghana, in 1988, trained at the Ghanatta College of Art and Design and moved to Portland, Oregon, in 2017. His portraits render their sitters' skin in textured monochrome greys, set against saturated patterned textiles and backgrounds, drawing on Ghanaian studio photography and Western portrait conventions alike. His work is in collections including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Hirshhorn Museum.
