What a work by Tarka Kings is worth

Send photographs and whatever paperwork came with it. The first question is what the work actually is — edition or unique, when, and in what condition — because everything else follows from the answer. A valuation is free, made online from the photographs you send, and it commits you to nothing. We act for sellers across the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.

Bio

Tarka Kings was born in 1961 and studied at the Royal Academy Schools in London, graduating in 1987, and she has shown regularly in London since. She divides her time between London and Angus, in Scotland. Her paintings of town and country are low in tone and quiet in mood, and are often compared with those of Giorgio Morandi and Gwen John; she also works in graphite, coloured pencil and cut paper. Her solo exhibitions include shows at Rebecca Hossack Gallery in 1991 and 1994, the Fine Art Society in 1999, Ingleby Gallery in Edinburgh in 2001 and Still is Still Moving at Offer Waterman in London in 2018.

Her works are mostly small paintings and works on paper, and their quiet surfaces show any damage, so condition and framing matter. A gallery invoice and exhibition labels on the back help to date a work.
