How much is a Banksy worth?
Asked about Banksy in general, the honest answer is a range so wide it is no use to anybody — a few hundred pounds and several million are both correct, depending entirely on which object is in front of you. Banksy art prices are not one market but several sitting under one name: unique works, signed editions, unsigned editions, and the screenprints that were bought for very little and are now the bulk of what changes hands. A signed and an unsigned impression of the same image are catalogued separately and bought by different people.
So the question only becomes answerable once the image is named, and it becomes answerable quite precisely. The figures below are the market-wide picture, the estimator narrows it to a single title and edition, and photographs of your own sheet close the rest of the distance. None of that costs anything.
A rough range, before we speak
Choose your print and whether it is signed. What comes back is a published figure for that title and that edition — not an average across everything the artist has printed. Condition, edition type and paperwork sit under it because they are what we look at when we value a specific sheet, and a faded or creased print is worth a great deal less than a clean one; they deliberately do not move the range shown here, because a published figure belongs to a market rather than to your print. The gap between the two averages is the single most important thing on this page. Signed editions are far smaller than unsigned ones, and the premium follows the scarcity rather than the ink. Quoted as a single figure, Banksy prices average two markets that barely overlap.

An estimate is what a saleroom expects before a sale; a result is what was paid; an assessment is our own view of where a work sits today, informed by the market rather than drawn from a single sale. The column says which, because they are not the same thing and an assessment should never be read as a saleroom figure. What sets the value
Signed or unsigned
The single largest division in the print market. Signed and unsigned editions of the same image are traded as two different things by two different sets of buyers, and are catalogued separately. It is the first question any auction house will ask you.
Edition and format
Which edition a print belongs to, its size, and whether it is a numbered impression, an artist's proof or one of the other designations outside the main run. Each sits differently in the market, and the distinction is not always obvious from the sheet alone.
Pest Control paperwork
Pest Control is the artist's own authentication body, and the certificate it issues is what the major salerooms expect to see. Whether a work has one, and whether that paperwork is intact and matches the work, changes both what it is worth and where it can realistically be sold.
Which image it is
Two prints from the same year, the same edition size and the same condition can sit a long way apart because one image is wanted and the other is not. Demand attaches to subjects, and it is neither uniform across the catalogue nor stable over time. This is why a figure quoted for “a Banksy print” without naming the image is not a valuation.
Hand-finishing, proofs and special editions
Anything outside the standard numbered run behaves differently: hand-finished impressions where the artist has worked on the sheet after printing, artist's and printer's proofs, and the colourways and variants released alongside a main edition. These are scarcer than the edition they sit beside, and they are also where misdescription is most common — a sheet marked as a proof is not always one.
Condition
These are works on paper, and they mark. Fading from display, handling creases, tape and hinge damage from earlier framing, and trimming all read through to the estimate. Condition is judged against what the edition normally looks like, not against perfection.
Blind stamps, paper and the physical details
The sheet itself carries evidence: the publisher's blind stamp and where it sits, the paper and its weight, the margins and whether they have been cut, and how the printing looks at the edges of the image. These are the details a specialist checks first when something about a print does not sit right, and they are the ones photographs most often miss — which is why we ask for the corners and the reverse, not just the picture.
Provenance
Where the work has been since it left the artist. A clean chain of ownership with paperwork behind it removes questions a specialist would otherwise have to raise, and questions raised late in a consignment cost time and estimate.

How the market got here
Prices ran hard into 2021 and reset sharply afterwards. What replaced the peak is more selective rather than simply lower: strong images, small editions, signed examples and clean condition still find committed buyers, while common unsigned images in average condition move slowly. Which group a print falls into matters far more than the month it is offered.

Does a Banksy need Pest Control paperwork to sell?
Not always, but it changes your options. Pest Control is the artist's own authentication body, and its certificate is what the major auction houses expect to see. Without it a work can still be sold, though the route and the likely result are different — worth establishing before you approach a saleroom.
What is the difference between a signed and an unsigned Banksy print?
They are effectively two separate markets for the same image, catalogued and valued separately, with different buyers. Establishing which you hold is the first step in any valuation.
How do I get a Banksy valued?
Images of the work — including the signature area and the reverse — along with any paperwork that came with it are enough to begin. There is no charge, and a valuation carries no obligation to proceed.
