What a work by Guillaume Dénervaud is worth

Send photographs and whatever paperwork came with it. The first question is what the work actually is — edition or unique, when, and in what condition — because everything else follows from the answer. A valuation is free, made online from the photographs you send, and it commits you to nothing. We act for sellers across the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.

Bio

Guillaume Dénervaud was born in Fribourg, Switzerland, in 1987 and lives and works in Paris. He studied illustration at the École des arts appliqués in Geneva and then took the Work.master programme at HEAD Geneva. His paintings, in oil, tempera and pencil on linen, are built from dense, ambiguous motifs that suggest plant matter, machine parts or cells, drawn with architectural drafting stencils and coloured with pigments made from minerals, plants and insect exoskeletons. Science fiction, comics, film and literature feed the work, as do decorative and everyday objects, and alongside painting he makes drawings in ink and graphite, prints, sculpture, glass and installation. Solo exhibitions include Surv'Eye at the Centre d'édition contemporaine in Geneva in 2021 and Ozoned Station at Swiss Institute in New York, which opened in 2023 after a residency there in 2021. He has shown with Balice Hertling in Paris and Galerie Gregor Staiger, and his work is in the collections of MAMCO in Geneva, the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris and ICA Miami.

He makes unique paintings on linen, drawings in ink and graphite on paper, sculpture in steel and glass, and printed works. Surfaces built up in handmade pigment, tempera and pencil are delicate, so condition matters, and a gallery invoice with the title and date of the work is the first thing a buyer asks for.
