What a work by Jordan Wolfson is worth
Send photographs and whatever paperwork came with it. The first question is what the work actually is — edition or unique, when, and in what condition — because everything else follows from the answer. A valuation is free, made online from the photographs you send, and it commits you to nothing. We act for sellers across the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.

Bio
Jordan Wolfson was born in New York in 1980 and took a BFA in sculpture at the Rhode Island School of Design in 2003. He lives and works in Los Angeles. He works across video, sculpture, installation, photography and performance, and since 2014 has combined aluminium and brass sculpture with digital imagery, virtual reality and animatronics. Female Figure (2014) is an animatronic figure that uses facial recognition to make eye contact with the viewer; Colored Sculpture (2016), an animatronic boy suspended from the ceiling, was shown in the Tanks at Tate Modern in 2018; and the virtual reality work Real Violence was shown at the 2017 Whitney Biennial. His first solo museum exhibition was at Kunsthalle Zürich in 2004, S.M.A.K. in Ghent gave him the survey Ecce Homo/le Poseur in 2013, and Body Sculpture had its premiere at the National Gallery of Australia in 2023. He won the Frieze Foundation's Cartier Award in 2009, and his work is held by the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, Tate and Museum Ludwig in Cologne. David Zwirner has represented him since 2013.
Besides the animatronic and virtual reality installations, his work includes videos, photographs and sculpture in aluminium and brass combined with digital imagery. For a video or any editioned piece, the edition number and the certificate issued with it are the first things to check; for a sculpture, the condition of its surfaces and of any printed image. A gallery invoice and the date of the work should go with it.
