Paul Insect is a British artist based in London, one of the generation that moved from the street into galleries in the 2000s. His work mixes skulls, anatomy, pop culture and candy colour across paintings, screenprints and sculpture. His 2007 solo exhibition Bullion, at Lazarides in London, was bought in its entirety by Damien Hirst before it opened, and the works went into Hirst's Murderme collection.
Screenprints and editions make up much of what circulates, many released through galleries associated with the street-art scene, with paintings and sculpture the scarcer category. Edition size, colourway and hand-finishing distinguish otherwise identical prints, and the margins should be photographed for the numbering and signature. For unique works, gallery provenance and exhibition history are worth establishing.
