What a work by Thomas Nozkowski is worth
Send photographs and whatever paperwork came with it. The first question is what the work actually is — edition or unique, when, and in what condition — because everything else follows from the answer. A valuation is free, made online from the photographs you send, and it commits you to nothing. We act for sellers across the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.

Bio
Thomas Nozkowski (1944–2019) was born in Teaneck, New Jersey, and grew up in nearby Dumont. He took a BFA at Cooper Union in 1967, making sculpture at first before turning to painting. In the early 1970s, reacting against the heroic scale of both Abstract Expressionism and Minimalism, he decided to work small and on the easel, at first on 16 by 22 inch canvas boards bought from art shops. His abstract paintings and drawings, each one distinct, found an audience in New York by the end of the 1970s, and the Museum of Modern Art acquired his work in 1982. For years he supported himself as a graphic artist working for magazines.
His paintings are small, and drawings and prints are an important part of his output. Most works are titled Untitled with a number, which should match the gallery invoice or label. Small panels and boards are easily knocked at the corners, so condition should be checked.
