Send photographs and whatever paperwork came with it. The first question is what the work actually is — edition or unique, when, and in what condition — because everything else follows from the answer. A valuation is free, made online from the photographs you send, and it commits you to nothing. We act for sellers across the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.

Bio
Odili Donald Odita was born in Enugu, Nigeria, in 1966, and in 1967, shortly after the outbreak of the Biafran War, his family fled to Columbus, Ohio. He took a BFA at Ohio State University in 1988 and an MFA at Bennington College, Vermont, in 1990, then moved to New York, where for some years he made photo-based works, curated exhibitions and wrote for Flash Art International and NKA, Journal of Contemporary African Art. Okwui Enwezor invited him to the 1997 Johannesburg Biennial, and in 1999 Color Theory, his first solo show of paintings, opened at the Florence Lynch Gallery in New York. His abstractions, on canvas and painted directly on walls, are built from interlocking geometries and contrasting hues that he mixes himself, drawing on the textiles of Nigeria as well as Western modernity, and he places himself in a tradition of Black abstract painters of the 1970s and 1980s. His installation Give Me Shelter was shown at the 52nd Venice Biennale in 2007. He lives and works in Philadelphia, where he teaches painting at the Tyler School of Art, Temple University.
Besides paintings and wall works he makes prints, among them colour aquatints and etchings published by Crown Point Press in editions of ten. For a print, note the edition number, the paper and the signature. For a painting, keep the gallery invoice with the title and date, and check flat fields of colour for scuffs and marks.
