What a work by Zhou Li is worth

Send photographs and whatever paperwork came with it. The first question is what the work actually is — edition or unique, when, and in what condition — because everything else follows from the answer. A valuation is free, made online from the photographs you send, and it commits you to nothing. We act for sellers across the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.

Bio

Zhou Li was born in Hunan Province, China, in 1969 and graduated in oil painting from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 1991. She later lived in France before returning to China, and she lives and works in Shenzhen. Her paintings are lyrical abstractions that draw on the history of European painting and on the teachings of traditional Chinese art, and they are often discussed in relation to Chinese calligraphy and to painters such as Mark Rothko and Cy Twombly. She has had solo exhibitions at White Cube in London in 2019 and in Seoul in 2025, and at the Yuz Museum in Shanghai.

Her works are paintings on canvas and works on paper. A gallery invoice and the date of the work are the first things a buyer asks for, and large canvases should be checked for abrasions.
