What a work by Wade Guyton is worth
Send photographs and whatever paperwork came with it. The first question is what the work actually is — edition or unique, when, and in what condition — because everything else follows from the answer. A valuation is free, made online from the photographs you send, and it commits you to nothing. We act for sellers across the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.

Bio
Wade Guyton was born in Hammond, Indiana, in 1972 and grew up in Lake City, Tennessee. He took a BA at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 1995, moved to New York in 1996 and studied in the MFA programme at Hunter College from 1996 to 1998, where Robert Morris was among his teachers. His drawings from around 2003, black Xs printed over pages torn from books, made the colour black and the letter X his signature motifs. His tool is a large-format Epson inkjet printer: he composes simple shapes and letters on a computer and prints them onto book pages and, since 2005, onto canvas, leaving the snags, drips, streaks and misregistrations of the struggle between machine and material on the surface. He usually shows in series, among them the New York Times paintings of 2016, made from screenshots of the newspaper's website. He received a Foundation for Contemporary Arts grant in 2004, and has had solo exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art in 2012, Kunsthalle Zürich in 2013, the Serpentine Gallery in 2017 and the Museum Ludwig in 2019. He lives and works in New York.
His paintings are Epson UltraChrome inkjet on linen, some in several panels, and he has also made sculpture in mirrored stainless steel. Inkjet on linen marks easily and can fade, so check the surface and keep a work out of direct sun. Keep the title, date, number of panels and gallery invoice together.
