An unusually tight ratio
Most Pictures on Walls releases of this period pair a signed edition of 150 with an unsigned edition of 500 or 600. Jack and Jill is reported at 175 signed against 350 unsigned — proportionally far closer.
That matters when valuing an unsigned impression. The usual rule of thumb, that unsigned sheets are plentiful and priced as the entry tier, holds less firmly here because there are fewer of them relative to the signed run. Unsigned examples of this image should not be assumed to sit where unsigned examples of the 2003 group sit.
Two names again
The print is catalogued as Jack and Jill and is widely known as Police Kids, and both names appear across salerooms and databases.
As with Napalm, that splits the comparable results in two, and an owner researching under one name will see an incomplete picture. Check both, and check which name the saleroom intends to catalogue under.
Condition on pale grounds
The image sits on a light ground with fine detail in the figures, which is a combination that shows handling readily.
Surface dirt and light staining are more visible than they would be on a dark or busy print, and a paper conservator can often improve both. Fading and trimming cannot be improved, and are the two things to check for before anything else.
